HAMPTONS

The Hamptons are a collection of towns nestled on the South Fork peninsula, the eastern tip of Long Island, the largest island in the United States. They stand as historic summer colonies along the East Coast, a home and retreat for celebrities of all kinds, an artist's haven with luminaries like Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner, and a year-round destination for well-off New Yorkers seeking respite and social engagement on weekends. The Hamptons' defining feature is their breathtaking, expansive, and wild beaches, known for their long stretches, deserted ambiance, and dunes shaped by the relentless ocean waves.

The architecture of homes draws inspiration from the New England colonial style, predominantly featuring light woods, often painted in white, blue, or pastel shades. Elegant porches and outdoor spaces highlight a keen attention to outdoor decor. These luxurious abodes, meticulously designed, are surrounded by immaculate white fences. It's in this backdrop that the renowned novel "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald is set, amid the memorable rhythm of jazz and Charleston dance. Welcome to the Hamptons.

How to furnish a home inspired by the Hamptons in the United States?

POOL AREA

The expansive pool and relaxation area overlooking the ocean boasts soft-colored furnishings that contrast against the backdrop of a wooden or white resin sundeck. The spacious Casilda daybed by Ramòn Esteve for Talenti is the epitome of relaxation.

The outdoor Honey lamps designed by Raffaella Mangiarotti for Serralunga resemble honey pots, radiating warm light as evening sets in.

The dining area features the white Tense Outdoor table by Piergiorgio Cazzaniga for MDF Italia, crafted from lightweight aluminum for easy maneuvering.

The chairs belong to the Cruise series by Ludovica+Roberto Palomba for Talenti, boasting an aluminum structure with decorative woven cord backs and armrests reminiscent of nautical elements, resilient to sun and weather exposure.

Comfortable sun loungers and large poufs from the
George series by Talenti complete the sundeck, creating a relaxing poolside oasis.

In this naturally elegant haven, complementing decor and accessories should perfectly blend tradition and culture. The Cabas leather and natural cotton bag by Marco Trevisan transcends time with its vintage detailing.

UNDER THE PORCH

The house features an expansive porch that shields from the sun and the Atlantic winds. This outdoor space isn't merely an extension of the house; it's designed and furnished as an essential living space, meant to be enjoyed with comfortable seating, games, and artworks. The Doron Hotel Outdoor armchair, designed by Charlotte Perriand in 1947, is now perfectly reimagined by Cassina. Made from solid teak and natural linen canvas, it's practical and water-resistant, ideal for this environment.

The classic Tabouret Maison du Brésil stool, designed by Le Corbusier in 1959, has two openings on its main sides for easy handling. It can be used horizontally or vertically as a seat or a service table.

On the walls, two artworks by photographer Malena Mazza are exhibited, reflecting her participation in the prestigious "Hamptons Fine Art Fair," an annual high-profile contemporary art fair on this coast.

The Spider ping pong table by Fas Pendezza, with its white metal profile structure and natural wood top, doubles as a spacious dining table when needed.

LIVING AREA

The house, aside from being a summer refuge during the warmer months, is conceived as a cozy space even during winter. It's a place for family and friends to gather for Thanksgiving or Christmas celebrations. The living area is organized with different seating options, allowing for desired positions. Rocking chairs, pouf-stools, and comfortable upholstered seats create a versatile seating arrangement.

The furnishings are in natural wood, such as the Orio coffee table designed by Giulio Iacchetti for Internoitaliano. Illumination is provided by classic-shaped "abat-jour" lamps with opaline glass, a FontanaArte bestseller designed by Max Ingrand.

The Illusioni coffee table, designed by Sebastiano Tosi for Mogg, resembles a sculpture. It's an essential and elegant piece that seamlessly integrates into any space due to its lightness.

Artworks on the walls serve as a reminder that the Hamptons are not just about leisure; they've always been a melting pot of cultures. Artist Giuseppe Mazzardi captured details of famous classical sculptures using hundreds of dice.
