Bathroom Evolution

Until the Victorian era, even in the palaces, the rooms were passers-by, and it could happen to bump into the King lying in the bathtub.

With the introduction of the corridor, the rooms acquired a private dimension. Specifically, the bathroom changed its function, becoming a place of well-being. In the contemporary world, the bathroom undergoes a rapid evolution linked to higher hygiene standards and self-care. It becomes a room to live in, dedicated to the body's pleasures: massaging showers, whirlpool tubs, saunas. Cleanliness and well-being coexist in an environment that hosts the bathroom essentials and seats, fine carpets, decorative mirrors, various furnishings, and design accessories, such as coat hangers and towel rails. Design stars, such as Philippe Starck, contributed to a new sanitary concept with his collection for Duravit. The shapes vary to more curved lines. The dictatorship of total white ends and the colours appear declined in a wide range of shades, from pinks to greys, from pearl to green shoots.

Colouring the bathroom fixtures, even daring the intense hue of petroleum, means showing an aesthetic and theoretical readiness for a symbolic change. It means accentuating the bathroom's new role, its progressive transformation from a service room to a place to experience, like others in the home.
